The founder and CEO of Google, Larry Page, said Thursday that the network search engine that aims to compete with Facebook, reached 40 million users.
"People are coming to Google + at an incredible rate and this is only beginning," Page said during a conference on results.
The executive said that billions of photos are uploaded to the Google platform +.
Page said Google + features aimed at socialization, will be included in other search services.
"We're still at a very early stage of what technology can bring," he said.
"These online tools we use will look very different in five years and we are building these tools in Google +" he said.
The Internet giant launched the open version of google.com / + on September 20 as a strategy to challenge the leadership of Facebook in the world of social networks.
The advantages of Google + include the possibility of "meetings" video and chat on the platform through connections using smart phones or electronic tablets, or show video presentations to groups of people using the product "hangouts On Air" ( Live Meeting).
Among those who have used this system in recent weeks is the Tibetan leader, Dalai Lama, Desmond Tutu, former archbishop of Cape Town, who is also a leading activist for human rights.
