Roy: The team without a captain

Various representatives of the insect world is not just inspired engineers and designers working to develop the aircraft. Now the system is presented, inspired by a swarm of insects: a team of UAVs, linked to each other and the existing group.

Testing of the system have already passed, was demonstrated well-coordinated work of different types of UAVs - climbed into the sky two modified drone Insitu ScanEagle and one procerus Unicorn . The devices were able to build the route and held a successful mapping of the terrain, constantly exchanging information with each other and to ground stations through the use of self-organizing decentralized communication network ( MANET ).
Heading the project officer of Boeing Santander Gabriel (Gabriel Santander) said of trials: "This is a huge milestone in the history of unmanned vehicles. It has been shown that UAVs can collect and use information, interacting with each other and jointly solve a common problem. " Indeed, this approach promises to facilitate the use of drones in earnest and for the military and for civil purposes, to accelerate the collection of information and reduce the need for participation in their work people.
No wonder the work on such "schooling" system is being waged around the world. We recall in this connection, the Swiss project SMAVNET: « link Heaven . "
